Here are a few fun tips for getting ready to go to the beach or to just take a dip in the local pool. Swimming is fun, but you've got to have the stuff you need!
Part1
EditPacking basics in the bag
- 1Get a reasonably sized (waterproof suggested) bag that can hold all your items.
- 2Pick out your bathing suit and the clothes you'll want to wear afterwards. You can also put your bathing suit on under your clothes to save time. But, if you have to pick your suit up from somewhere, it's fine to put it on when you arrive at your destination. You can change in the changing rooms or the bathrooms.
- 3Bring goggles, if you use them, and hair ties or a swim cap if you need them.
- 4Pack a few towels. Spare towels never hurt anyone and they may not have towels available where you are going. If you cannot find or do not own a towel, ask if you can borrow a few from your friends or neighbors.
- 5Pack some shampoo and conditioner. Especially if you are going to a chlorinated swimming pool. Wash and condition your hair as soon as you get out to prevent skin irritations and hair discoloration.
- 6Take a comb or a good hairbrush. Tidy up your hair after swimming unless you're planning to go straight home.
- 7Bring deodorant.
- 8Add your flip-flops and sun hat if required.
- 9Bring sunscreen and sunglasses.
Part2
EditAdditional items for the bag
- 1Add sanitary ware, as required. For older girls, you may want to bring some extra tampons. Who knows what might happen at a pool...
- 2If you wear contacts, you may want to bring your case and some extra solution so that you can take them out before going into the water.
- 3Pack body lotion or splash. Body Splash and moisturizer should brighten you day! It is easy to get dry skin after being in chlorinated water.
- 4Pack a water bottle. Remember to hydrate. In fact, if you hydrate enough you fingers don't prune as much. No person wants to get dehydrated at a pool or a lake. Don't drink the pool or lake water, gross things have been in it. Chlorine and the other chemicals in the water are not meant to be ingested, and may hurt you, but don't get freaked out if you drink some accidentally.
